In 2012, the “International Anton G. Rubinstein Piano Competition“ will take place for the fifth time. For this competition, organized and staged by FORUM TIBERIUS – International Forum for Culture and Business and established as one of the most important piano competitions in Europe more than 100 young talented pianists from all over the world are expected to take part. Auditions will be held between February and July 2012 in eleven cities on four continents. The final rounds in Dresden take place between September 19 and October 3, 2012.

As a special feature of the semifinal of this 5th competition a commissional work by a contemporary composer will be presented by the pianists who qualified for this round. During the final all chosen participants will present a piano concert to the audience and the international jury, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Carl Maria von Weber University of Music, Dresden, under the direction of Prof. Ekkehard Klemm.

Following this concert on October 03, 2012, the expert jury panel, consisting of pianists, reperesentatives of conservatories and media as well as artistic directors of European theaters and festivals will elect the best pianist.

Two award winner concerts will take place: October 4, in House of Culture Schwarzheide, sponsored by BASF and October 6, the traditional concert in Dippoldiswalde. The Great Concert of the Finalists in St. Petersburg on October 10, 2012 will conclude “5th International Piano competition Anton G. Rubinstein 2012”. The prize winners will demonstrate their extraordinary talent and abilities with the State Orchestra of St. Petersburg directed by Maestro Alexander Tschernuschenko.
